Trainers are typically found at health clubs, country clubs, fitness or recreation centers, or gyms. However, some fitness trainers find opportunities at hospitals, universities, resorts or studios that specialize in particular workouts (such as yoga). Trainers work with people of all ages and all skill levels.

Post-secondary training or certification is required for many fitness trainers, though education requirements vary.
